The reviewer/insider sucks, but this Windows tablet looks pretty sleek. I’ve always liked the MetroUI and I like it even more blown up. The current problem with Honeycomb on the Android tablets is that it’s just too much with little organization. Windows is able to present the same information in a more organized format with its Live Tiles. That Windows 8 is still a development distro, so don’t jump all over its bare-bones appearance. Also, because Windows will be moving to ARM processors and start developing “systems on a chip,” Windows 8 for desktops and laptops will probably have a lot of similarities. With Windows finally on the right path, and Google unifying Android with Ice Cream Sandwich, there will be lots of interesting choices along with iOS and Apple’s iPad in the future.
Dare to dream I guess. This will be more like iPhone “15.”
CNET’s blog network is breaking an exclusive on HTC’s development of not only upcoming smartphones with Beats tech, but to create a Sensation Special Edition. The phone will feature better audio and include a special set of headphones. The improved Sensation will also have a faster CPU, more storage, and longer battery. Sounds nice, but expect this to be a little pricey. Like in the $800+ range..
News coming out of CNET is that HP has officially killed WebOS (including TouchPad and phones) in light of poor sales and third quarter figures. In addition it will start to spin off its consumer PC division. What does this all mean? HP will probably “look like IBM when all is said and done” (CNET). All I can say is HP didn’t try at all with the potential of WebOS, so serves them right. It is a pity though that the WebOS, developed by Palm and acquired by HP through the folding of Palm, is going to be killed off. Whether you liked WebOS or not, loss of competition is never a great thing (especially in a new market like tablets where it’s either under-performing Honeycomb or iOS).
